Greetings, and welcome to our blog! We are so very happy that you have stopped in to follow our adventures as we prepare to take the biggest step in our lives besides committing our entire being to God. Throughout our time blogging, we will provide stories, first-hand accounts, and teachings guided by our priests concerning marriage preparation and marriage life according to the church's teachings. We will also be giving some of our thoughts concerning our place as Catholics in a world that is quickly becoming a place of sin and moral and ethical decline. Through our efforts, we hope to connect with and (hopefully!) aid those who are taking the same journey we are and who wish to not only make their relationships and marriages work, but to do so in the full light of Christ.
Our Background:
Cody:
I grew up on a small horse ranch in the foothills of Colorado. After struggling with what I would consider to be my calling, I finally deccided that music was it. I enrolled in the University of Denver's opera program. I was blessed enough to sing in Italy two years and to work as a guest artist in a festival in Illinois, in addition to my roles and solo performances at DU. I then moved on to Indiana University in the fall of 2006 in order to pursue a Master's degree in voice. It was here that I met Lindsay during one of our graduate entrance exams.
Lindsay:
I am originally from Nashville, TN. I was blessed to have attended a small catholic grade school, and an even smaller all girls high school. In high school, the Dominican sisters truly challenged our perspectives, supported us in our struggles, and presented the faith. I came to Indiana University as an undergraduate in the music program. Six years later, I am still here! I am currently a doctoral student in voice. I teach a study skills class for IU freshmen and sophomores and high school voice just outside of Bloomington. I am constantly challenged by the enthusiastic spirits of my students. They inspire me to be a better person, and I pray every day that they can say the same about me.
A summary of our history as a couple:
We began seeing each other shortly thereafter and began officially dating. We both knew that it was true love, and continued to make strides to a more serious and fruitful relationship. I proposed on November 2, 2007 in front of very close friends and Lindsay's mother, and we set our wedding date for May 30, 2008. We have been working through all of our good and rough times ever since and have been taking the steps called for by the church (Pre Cana, meeting with our priest, etc.). It is our goal to take the steps leading up to and after our "big day" that will ensure that we have a strong bond with each other and with the Trinity.
